Have a Cup of Tea

One of the masters was doing his daily rounds and saw a new monk who was new to the temple. He approached him.
“Have I ever seen you before?”
The monk answered — “no sir, you have not.”
“Then have a cup of tea” — said the master
He then turned to another monk sitting nearby and asked him the same question — ”have I ever seen you before?”
“Yes sir, of course you have” — said the other monk.
“Then have a cup of tea” — the master replied
Later, the manager of the monastery asked the master — ”why do you make the same offer regardless of how these monks answer your questions?”
“Are you still here?” — the master asked
“Of course I am!” — the manager replied, confused
“Then have a cup of tea” — replied the master
