We think freedom is about having more:
More time, more money, more choices, more control.
But real freedom isn’t found in accumulation.
It’s found in subtraction.
What are you still clinging to?
A place? A person?
An old version of yourself?
Freedom begins the moment you release yourself from attachment.
It grows each time you let go of something you thought you needed.
In the end, you’re only as free as the things you’re willing to lose.
Janis Joplin. “Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose ….”
One of the best things I did was embrace minimalism...not perfect...i have kids....we have "stuff" but realizing that overwhelm wasn't about keeping up with the mess (exteranal) but having less to keep up with. The internal benefit of it, which I expected it would, was just calm. We need to be careful the stories we fill our heads with because your mind might believe it haha
